Wessex
Recently the Wessex Pool Championship was contested at Poole Dolphin Leisure Centre over the 4th & 5th March. The champs saw clubs from Southbourne, Christchurch, Branksome Chine, Boscombe, Weymouth and Brighton compete with 250 members taking part!
The Youth, Open & Masters competed on day one which saw Branksome take overall victory! The Nippers was fiercely contested on day two which again saw Branksome on top. The competition was run superbly with the Wessex committee getting the shout out it deserves. Team places were:

Devon
Over to Devon and the Nipper Championships consisted of 230 Nippers. After brilliant racing Woolacombe were crowned Devon Nipper Champions 2023.
In the Youth, Woolacombe were again victorious. Over 70 Youth members competed in the competition.
Saunton Sands claimed top spot in the Masters category and Bideford Bay becoming Open Champions.
Keith Gammon from Woolacombe told us – “It was very well run, plenty of helpers and there was a good atmosphere. We even had time for lunch!” Jan Reid from Saunton added “It was great! A shout out to all the competitors who were amazing plus the officials – some of which are newly qualified did a super job and looked good in their new official tops.”
Cornwall
The Cornish regions ‘Frostbite’ pool championships took place at Penzance Leisure Centre, which saw a full weekend of racing with 13 clubs and over 580 nippers!
Considering the fantastically large numbers, the event ran smoothly thanks to superb help from officials who represented every competing club.
The top 3 teams were:
1st – Gyllyngvase 472 points
2nd – Holywell 431.5 points
3rd – Hayle 403 points
The Nippers now start their prep for the National Championship in Cardiff on the 29th & 30th April!
