At Surf Life Saving GB, our officials ensure that competitions are conducted in accordance with national and international rules, promote fair play, and support athlete development from club events to national and international championships.
Surf lifesaving officials are trained volunteers who:
Oversee competition operations and enforce rules
Ensure athlete safety and welfare during events
Apply technical knowledge across disciplines
Manage timing, judging, scoring and adjudication
Support coordination between teams, athletes and event organisers
Officials work across pool, beach and ocean sport formats, putting rules and safety at the forefront so athletes can perform with confidence.

Becoming an official involves:

Complete officiating courses (where available) or workshops approved by Surf Life Saving GB.
