HUT2HUT – Hayle SLSC Event

What is it?

A 4.6km mixed discipline event across the stretch of beach covered by the Hayle Towans, Mexico, Beachside and Upton Towans lifeguard huts (hence the name!) Competitors will board paddle 1.5km from Hayle SLSC to the beach in front of Beachside Lifeguard hut, where they will leave their boards and re enter the water to swim 1km to Upton Towans lifeguard hut. From Upton they will run (600m) back to their boards at Beachside to paddle the return leg to Hayle SLSC.

Who is it for?

All youth, open and masters who are current members of SLSGB and hold a current L2 Swim and Board competency now and at the time of the event. There is a limit of 60 youth and 60 senior competitors, so get your entry in fast!

How much does it cost?

There is an entry fee of £22 per competitor to cover the cost of running the event and prize money

What equipment is required?

All competitors must wear SLSGB race vests and Club hats throughout the event, this is for safety reasons and is not negotiable. Boards must be to ILS race spec.

When is it?

On Saturday 17th August, with the youth race (U17 and below) heading off in the afternoon and the adult race (Open and Masters) setting off in the early evening.

Prizes?

1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies will be awarded for both male and female in the following categories: U15, U17, Open, Masters

And the money?!

In addition to this, up to £150 (depending on entry numbers) will be awarded to 1st place (up to £100 to 2nd and £50 to 3rd) but these winners will be selected by performance based lottery.

What is a performance based lottery??

Let’s say there are 30 people in your category (4 categories will be decided based on entry numbers, likely to be youth male/female and adult male/female), the person who wins that category in the water gets 30 tickets (and 30 chances at winning up to £150!), the person who comes last gets 1 ticket. So it doesn’t matter where you finish, you are still in with a chance at the prize money.

Anything else?

There will be a prize giving and after party at Hayle SLSC with a bar, bbq and music! Card and cash payments will be accepted.

Terms

You will be entitled to a full refund should this event be cancelled by Hayle SLSC for any avoidable reasons (i.e. not pollution incidents, weather conditions etc) In the case of cancellation outside of our control (pollution incidents/weather conditions) every effort will be made by Hayle SLSC to find a more suitable date. If this is not possible then refunds will be issued less unavoidable costs already incurred by Hayle SLSC. While you cannot cancel your entry for a refund, except in exceptional circumstances, you may transfer it to someone else as a private arrangement but MUST let Hayle SLSC know the updated competitor no less than 1 week before the proposed event.
