Across the UK coastline, more people than ever are enjoying the sea – whether that’s swimming, paddleboarding, surfing, kayaking, or simply spending time at the beach with family and friends. With this growing connection to the water comes an even greater need for strong local water safety communities, accessible lifesaving education, and opportunities for people of all ages to develop confidence and skills in the coastal environment.
That is why we are actively exploring opportunities to establish new Surf Life Saving clubs in communities around the UK.
Surf Life Saving clubs are far more than training venues. They become community hubs that bring people together through a shared passion for the sea, safety, fitness, teamwork, and volunteering. They create pathways for young people to build confidence and leadership skills, support local beach safety initiatives, and help develop the next generation of trained lifesavers and lifeguards.
A local Surf Life Saving club can provide:
- Water safety and sea awareness education
- Lifesaving and rescue skills training
- Junior surf lifesaving programmes for children and teenagers
- Volunteer development opportunities
- Fitness, wellbeing, and community engagement
- Environmental stewardship of the coast and sea
- Lifeguard training pathways and qualifications
- A welcoming coastal community for families, athletes, and ocean enthusiasts
Most importantly, Surf Life Saving clubs help create safer beaches and stronger coastal communities.
We are currently in discussions with several communities about potential new club locations and are keen to connect with passionate individuals, local organisations, beach users, and water safety advocates who would like to help make a difference in their area.

- Marazion / Penzance – West Cornwall
- Hornsea – East Yorkshire
- Torbay – South Devon
- Burnham-on-Sea / Brean – Somerset
- Bovisand / Plymouth
