For 30 years, Michele Weedy has served as Lifeguard Captain — a role that demands leadership, organisation and relentless commitment.
She oversees the running and development of the lifesaving section, coordinating weekly classes, mentoring young instructors and ensuring awards in lifesaving theory, CPR, first aid, water safety and swimming are delivered and recorded accurately. She maintains detailed records for past and present members — safeguarding the continuity and professionalism of the section.
Michele writes policies, updates procedures, completes risk assessments and attends executive meetings. She leads lifeguard training, ensures monthly competency requirements are met and organises volunteer beach patrols, coordinating lifeguards, first aiders and graduates to operate safely.
She founded and continues to run the club’s Beach Carnival — now in its 31st year — managing entries, logistics and visiting clubs. She also officiates as an ‘A’ Referee at local, national and international level, including European, Commonwealth and World Championships.
Beyond administration and officiating, Michele leads community outreach, water safety demonstrations and school engagement programmes.
She is the backbone of her section — structured, knowledgeable and unwavering.
For three decades of leadership and service, we proudly present this 25 Years Service Award to Michele Weedy.
