Zelah Weedy’s contribution to surf lifesaving spans competition, coaching, governance and safeguarding — a rare combination of expertise and generosity.
An International A Referee, Zelah has officiated at World Lifesaving Championships and served as Referee for the SERC competition at the Commonwealth Championships in Swansea. As an athlete, she has competed internationally and achieved gold and bronze medals in Line Throw — demonstrating excellence both in officiating and performance.
Within her club, Zelah is a driving force. She organises accommodation, travel and logistics for away competitions. She serves as Team Manager, supports athletes aspiring to international level, and coaches beach, board and ski disciplines — nurturing both skill and confidence.
She co-wrote the Sandhoppers programme and awards syllabus, ensuring younger members learn safely and progressively. As Welfare Officer, she safeguards members and ensures compliance with DBS and protection standards. She mentors coaches, assesses lifeguard qualifications and sits on the North Regional Sports Committee.
Zelah’s leadership style is hands-on, knowledgeable and supportive. She builds structure, safety and opportunity for others.
For her sustained commitment across every level of the sport, we proudly recognise Zelah Weedy for outstanding Services to Lifesaving.
