Some contributions are measured in medals. Others are measured in people.
For more than five years, Samuel and Joshua Stephens have been the driving force behind the growth of the Masters section at Waveney SLSC. What began as a small group of parents and guardians connected to the Nippers has, through their leadership, become a thriving, confident and cohesive squad in its own right.
Sam and Josh bring energy, humour and professionalism to everything they do. They constantly look for new, engaging ways to involve members — ensuring that sessions are safe, structured and fun. They have mentored newcomers who may have doubted their abilities, encouraged those learning new skills, and created an environment where improvement is celebrated at every level.
Standing side by side — as twins and as leaders — they have fostered a culture of inclusivity, teamwork and resilience. Their Masters squad is not simply about fitness or competition; it is about belonging. Families who might never otherwise have connected now train together, support each other and represent their club with pride.
Leadership in lifesaving is about service. Sam and Josh lead by example — approachable, encouraging and quietly committed to raising standards while keeping enjoyment at the heart of the sport.
Tonight we recognise Samuel and Joshua Stephens for their outstanding contribution and for the positive impact they continue to have on their club community.
