Last year, our 10,000 volunteers helped 3,525 people through rescues, emergency responses, and preventative interventions. We saved 13 lives and prevented countless accidents across the UK’s coasts and waterways. Now we need your financial expertise to help us do even more.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a qualified finance professional to join our Board of Trustees at an exciting time of growth. With a new Board, CEO, and strategy in development, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping our financial future as we expand our life-saving impact across communities from Aberdeen to St Ives.

This isn’t just about numbers—you’ll be directly contributing to building resilient coastal communities, training world-class lifesavers, and ensuring fewer drownings occur in UK waters.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership

Guide financial strategy development alongside our new CEO and dynamic Board
Ensure robust financial governance and compliance with charity regulations

Financial Oversight

Monitor budgets and provide clear financial insights to drive decision-making
Present accessible financial reports to fellow trustees
Oversee annual accounts preparation and statutory compliance

Operational Excellence

Support funding applications for life-saving programmes
Ensure proper financial controls protect our charitable assets
Collaborate with finance staff to maintain effective day-to-day operations

What You Bring

Qualified Accountant or equivalent financial experience
Charity finance knowledge or willingness to undertake training
Strategic mindset with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and governance
Communication skills to present complex financial information clearly
Collaborative approach and commitment to our life-saving values

Time Commitment

Five board meetings annually, plus AGM, strategy day, and occasional beach events representing our charity. Ongoing liaison with trustees, CEO, and staff as needed.
